Okay, what colour is this shirt? Is it wine? Is it plum? Is it burgundy? I can’t seem to decide which colour name fits best.
I do know that it’s one of my favourite things I own. I’ve had it since high school and it’s one of few tops I have that have remained intact over the past 8 or so years. The only downside is that it gets wrinkled very easily. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve looked back at photos of me wearing this shirt and been like, “What the heck?” because it looks a hot mess. Like this week’s manicure, it looks better in person.
When my hair grows, I need to twist it to maintain its dreadlock shape. Usually, when I twist my hair, I braid it together and keep it in this style for a few days or a week or, if I listened to my mother, two weeks. I used to hate keeping it like this for any length of time, and would take it out at the first opportunity. The result is wavy dreads, which I love, but it means that I
have to should twist my hair more often, as the new growth doesn’t get as much time to bond into dreads.
Recently, I’ve begun to like the hairstyle more and more. Maybe it’s because I now see the merits of letting my hair reform into the hairstyle I’ve grown so attached to in the fifteen years I’ve worn it. What can I say… I love my hair. Dreadlocks forever!
